About 140 Nigerians have been deported from Libya because of immigration offences, airport officials said today.

The deportees were flown into Lagos airport on Monday in a chartered flight, accused of being in the north African country without valid residence and work permits, they said.

Hundreds of Nigerians use north Africa as a transit route to Europe and America.
