In the third selection shoot for airguns at the Bidnija ranges last weekend, William Vella took centre-stage once again as he attained a MQS score in the air-rifle competition.

Vella shot extremely well in adverse weather conditions to record his second consecutive Olympic MQS of 572/600. He then chalked up an impressive 101.4 points for an overall score of 673.4 points.

Lawrence Darmanin was second with a score of 556 and a 96.0 in the final as the promising Charlo Chircop saw off the challenge of Annabel Borg with a 538+96.1 score to secure third place.

Organisers, however, reported a low turn-out for the air-pistol competition.

Ray Cacciattolo was a deserving winner here, finishing 50 points ahead of Martin Grech after scoring 541 and a 94.4 in the final.
