The MAAC wrapped up its 2008 activities with a bench rest competition at its Victoria shooting range in Ħandaq. The event was split into two classes, International Sporter for air rifles below 15ft/lbs and Unlimited Class for air rifles over 15ft/lbs.

Carlo Caricato, the president of ERABSF (European Rimfire and Air rifle Shooting Federation) was the MAAC's guest of honour for this event.

All proceeds, totalling €250, were donated to L-Istrina.

The weather on the day was quite good as force 3-4 winds swept the range. The Unlimited Class is not shot anymore at 50m but at 25m, in line with international standards which stipulate that both classes be shot at 25metres.

First place in the International Sporter class went to David Giardina with a score of 224/250. Giardina restored his supremacy in this category after finishing third in the previous bench rest competition.

Kris Debattista was second with 218 points and Stanley Shaw third on 215.

In the Unlimited Class, Mario Spiteri, using a new top-notch air rifle Steyr LG 110 High Power, claimed top spot with an impressive score of 240/250. Shaw obtained the second best total, 237 points, just one ahead of third-placed Debattista.

The next MAAC event, a Field Target competition, is scheduled for January 11.
