Following recognition from the Euro Rimfire & Air Rifle Benchrest Shooting Federation, the MAAA held its first Air Rifle Benchrest competition at national level.

The event was held last weekend at the Victoria Shooting Range, tal-Ħandaq, Qormi.

The competition was split into two categories. Class A was open for air rifles with 15ft/lbs or less for 25m targets and Class B for air rifles with over 15ft/lbs for 50m targets.

Class A was dominated by the only woman shooter in competition, Ruth Gauci, and also 14-year-old Carlos Scorfna. They scored 234-3x and 228-3x respectively followed by David Giardina with 225-2x.

Class B 50m winner was Anton Grima with 206-0x. He was followed by Eric Camilleri, 193-0x, and James Bugeja, 190-2x. The next MAAC event is the Open Air Pistol Steel Plate Challenge on October 12.
