An Employee and Family Day at the University of Malta recently raised €2,445 for the Daniel Delicata Memorial Association and Puttinu Cares group, which support the treatment of sick Maltese children at Mater Dei Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. The day featured sports activities, including a Tug-of-war competition between departments, a Tai-chi demonstration, live music, stalls selling food, second-hand toys and books, a Mass and a barbecue. A lottery was also organised with prizes including cinema and bowling tickets, and cakes. The activity, which was organised by the University's community welfare committee chaired by pro-rector Mary Anne Lauri, and Jacqueline Fenech, director for Human Resources Management and Development, also helped to foster a team spirit among the University's academic and administrative staff.
