Division Two club Mellieħa have named Ronald Vella as their new head coach. Vella, a former Mellieħa player, was Ray 'Żażu' Farrugia's assistant during the latter's coaching spell with Premier League club Sliema Wanderers.

For his part, Farrugia has agreed to take on the post of technical director with Mellieħa's senior team, who will be sponsored by Seabank Group next season.

The appointments of Vella and Farrugia were confirmed last weekend after lengthy dis-cussions between the two coaches and the Mellieħa SC administration.

Mellieħa SC have also announced a joint-initiative with Farrugia which entails the setting up of a regional Zazu Football School at the club's new synthetic pitch facilities next season.
