The Edward de Bono Institute for the Design and Development of Thinking at the University of Malta is encouraging people to join the growing community of creative individuals by becoming members of the Facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5496667667 (login required).

This is one of the initiatives taken by the institute which is joining a global celebration of the central role that creativity and innovation plays in our lives on the occasion of the World Creativity and Innovation Day, which is being marked today.

Those interested are asked to send an e-mail to instituteofthinking@um.edu.mt or call 2132 3981.

The institute said that in this ever-changing world, yesterday's solutions may be inadequate for dealing with today's problems. Creative thinking is required to generate novel and useful ideas to overcome obstacles and to capitalise on the challenges and opportunities brought about by the changes occurring around us. Innovation, which refers to the successful implementation of creative ideas, can add value to every sphere of life.

It said that creativity and innovation constitute a growing body of local and international research. Most local studies in this field are carried out by students reading for a Masters in Creativity and Innovation with the Edward de Bono institute.

Research topics are varied and reflect the multidisciplinary nature of the Masters programme that attracts students from all walks of life and from all over the world.
