Betfair, sponsors of the Betfair Cup that saw Valletta FC triumph over Juventus recently, presented €3,000 (Lm1,287) to YMCA Homeless.

Betfair had promised to pay €1,000 for each Valletta goal scored during normal time.

Against the odds, Valletta equalised through Sebastian Monesterolo and finally winning on penalties.

Betfair increased the amount by an additional €1,000. On their part, Betfair staff raised another €1,000 to make it €3,000.

Dan Staples, head of marketing operations at Betfair Malta, hoped the donation would have a significant impact on the excellent work the YMCA carries out with the homeless.

Betfair said it intends to continue supporting local community projects.

Betfair is licensed to offer its online games portfolio, Betfair Games which includes Betfair Poker and Betfair Casino.

It started its Malta operation in 2006 and employs over 100 staff.
