To mark the acquisition of Hotel Phoenicia, Heuston Hospitality CEO Peter Stephenson, and chairman Paddy Murphy together with the new Irish owners hosted a reception for hotel clients. Luan Cuffe, on behalf of the investors, said how proud they are to have acquired Malta's oldest landmark and that they consider themselves caretakers of such an important treasure and part of the Island's cultural history.

In his address, Tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech said that the Phoenicia had always played a big role in the tourism industry since opening its doors 60 years ago. For the occasion, the executive chefs from two other Heuston Hotels - Oakley Court and Windsor and Pragelato Resorts and Spa in Italy - joined Victor Borg, Hotel Phoenicia's executive chef, to prepare an array of specialities for the reception.
