Maltese ballet students studying the British Ballet Organisation syllabus at Mandy's Dance Academy in Marsascala have received full praise from the examiner and patron, Ian Mackenzie Stewart, for the standard by which they performed their work, the academy said.

Mr Mackenzie Stewart was this year's examiner for the British Ballet Organisation in Malta.

During his stay, he conducted workshops for students and gave a talk about the opportunities offered through the British Ballet Organisation.

In autumn, he will be back for the choreography of Romeo and Juliet at the Mediterranean Conference Centre due on November 30 and December 1. Emma Lofton, from the English Youth Ballet, will play the role of Juliet, while Romeo will be played by Marlyn Lataga.

The performance will be based on the story of Romeo and Juliet in a modern scenario.
