Celta Vigo confirmed yesterday that former Bulgaria coach Hristo Stoichkov will remain in charge of the club despite their relegation to the second division.

Stoichkov unveiled Bulgarian defender Peter Zanev as the club's first signing ahead of next season.

The 21-year-old left back joins Celta on a loan deal from Litex Lovech although the club has an option to buy him outright when the agreement expires.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid coach Javier Aguirre will continue at the helm for next season.

The former Mexico and Osasuna boss steered Atletico to seventh in the league, securing a place in this summer's Intertoto Cup.

The club's points total of 60 was the highest since they returned to the top flight in 2002.
