Heritage Malta will be holding a concert as part of the activities to mark Caravaggio's 400th anniversary in Malta.

The concert by organist Claire Baluci, entitled Tribute To A Master, will be held at Heritage Malta's Conservation Division in Bighi on June 23 at 9 p.m.

Ms Baluci is an award-winning organist who has been acclaimed internationally for her live performances.

Born in Australia to a family of artists, Claire started studying music at a very young age and furthered her studies when her family re-located to Malta.

Tribute To A Master will be a fund-raising concert as all the proceeds will be used for the conservation of some of the main paintings by the so-called Caravaggisti like Stomer, Cassarino and Valentin, among others, as well as for the refurbishment of a hall at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta.

The concert will be complemented by two choirs, dancers and spectacular laser projections. The two-and-a-half hour show will also feature projections of some of Caravaggio's famous works.

Tickets for the show sell for Lm8 and Lm5 from www.maltaticket.com or from Heritage Malta's head office in Merchants Street, Valletta.

Tribute To A Master is one of the events that Heritage Malta is organising to commemorate the great artist Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio who arrived in Malta in 1607.

Other events include an exhibition of salt works depicting some of the artist's paintings at the Inquisitor's Palace in Vittoriosa and a Heritage Trail.
