Ferrari have carried out a further reshuffle of technical staff just three weeks before the start of the Formula One season, with test and technical manager Nigel Stepney re-assigned to a new role away from the racetrack.

Stepney, a Briton who joined the former champions in 1992 as chief mechanic, played an important role throughout the Michael Schuma-cher era in leading the pit crew at grand prix weekends.

However, he said recently that he was "unhappy with the situation within the team".

He becomes responsible for team performance development while the role of race operations manager will be taken by David Lloyd and Luigi Mazzola becomes test team and test operations performance manager.
