Stunning Venetian Carnival Ball in aid of YMCA

The magic of the Venetian ballo will be coming to Malta, when this year's Gran Ballo, now in its fourth edition, will be hosted at the Westin Dragonara Resort, St Julian's, on Saturday, February 17 from 8.15 p.m. till late.

Intensive preparations are underway to transform the Westin into Casanova's domain. No effort has been spared, with suggestive lighting, music, food and animation.

Edgar Mifsud, Gran Ballo co-ordinator and a member of Y's Friends, said: "With the help of many people, The Westin is being turned into a veritable Venetian ballroom. Casanova's Gran Ballo becomes a feast of colour, dance, music, food and passion. Those who attended the last two editions of the Gran Ballo know what to expect, and can look forward to something more from this year's event.

"Guests are expected to wear period costume or black tie with mask. The food, the music and the animation will definitely make this a night to remember. Guests will witness Casanova's secret rendez vous; his seduction at its best, and his rivals sword fighting. This masquerade ball will be animated by a crew of no fewer than 35 dancers, sword fighters, and entertainers which will help the story unfold as the guests dine and dance."

"This year we thought of adding a special attraction: the Westin Dragonara is offering an exclusive overnight stay for guests of the Gran Ballo at Lm25 per couple. This will add to the magic of the activity, as guests will have time to relax and prepare for the Gran Ballo and make it a five-star night after it's over."

The Gran Ballo is organised annually in aid of Dar Niki Cassar, the YMCA Homeless Shelter in Valletta. The admission donation of Lm19.50 includes a lavish gala dinner with entertainment. For more information and booking visit www.granballo.com or call 9949-9618.
