Premier League strugglers Marsa were left facing more problems yesterday when German coach Michael Molzahn decided to quit his post after only eight matches this season.

Molzahn, who led the side to promotion from Division One last season, apparently decided to leave the club as he felt he did not have total control on team matters.

Molzahn had a meeting with club officials yesterday during which he informed them of his decision. Last weekend, Marsa were beaten 3-0 by Valletta, a result which left the Red-Blues bottom of the standings with two points along with Pietà Hotspurs.

Marsa FC president Twanny Mercieca last night confirmed Molzahn's resignation. He said that the committee has already started to look for a new coach but a decision is expected to be taken next week.

Midfielder Essien Mbong will be in charge of the team's preparations for Sunday's FA Trophy first round match against Qormi at the Centenary Stadium.
