Tribute band Coldplace, renowned for recreating the sound and passion of superband Coldplay, will perform live in Malta in aid of the YMCA.

Set up in 2003, Coldplace have been applauded for their perfect renditions of songs like Speed of Sound, Fix You, Yellow and Politik.

Led by Chris Martin on vocals, Coldplay have taken the rock scene by storm with their multi-million selling albums Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head and X&Y. Just a fortnight ago, the band won the Best British Single and Best British Album at the Brit Awards.

Coldplace will be playing on March 30 at Gianpula, limits of Rabat.

YMCA is a voluntary organisation, providing social services to those in need, especially the homeless.

In 2004, YMCA opened Dar Niki Cassar, which can accommodate up to 22 individuals. Last year, the organisation assisted 1,283 individuals, which does not include the 2,007 that benefited from the EU's food programme.

Speaking during a news conference at Bay Street, Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech said that organisations like YMCA deserved full support.

The minister said that several established musicians were now including Malta on their tour circuit, which was boosting cultural tourism.
