A busy Chris Sutton helped Celtic take full advantage of Hearts' derby slip-up and go top of the Scottish Premier League on goal difference with a 4-2 win at Dundee United yesterday.

Sutton had an eventful first half, heading into his own net in the fourth minute for United's opener before dummying a ball for John Hartson to squeeze an equaliser.

Sutton then put Celtic 2-1 ahead on 28 minutes but United equalised with a stunning turn and shot inside the box from Collin Samuel on the half hour.

A Maloney corner was diverted into the net off the back of United defender Alan Archibald after 32 minutes, with Sutton applying the pressure that caused the error.

Substitute Stephen Pearson slid home Celtic's fourth late on from close range to leave the top two four points in front of Hibernian and 10 ahead of Rangers.
