Sea traffic in given areas around Malta will be restricted between November 22 and 28 in view of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

The armed forces have in fact established three maritime exclusion zones which are delineated by imaginary lines and the intermediate coastline. The zones are Pembroke Ranges - Tigné Point; Ras il-Qammieh to Ras ir-Raheb and Tigné Point to South East of Ras il-Gebel, including Valletta and Marsamxetto harbours.

The Malta Maritime Authority advised mariners to abide by any instructions given by the patrol craft in the indicated areas. It warned that force may be used by the patrol craft crew in cases of non-compliance.

In addition, no movements whatsoever will be allowed within the indicated areas and the intermediate coastline, including the area within Grand Harbour and Marsamxetto harbour, the MMA said.

Furthermore, on November 26, traffic between Mgarr harbour and Cirkewwa harbour will be restricted as directed by army patrol craft in the area.
