Premier League club Marsa-xlokk will continue playing the rest of the season with only one foreign player after deciding to part company with Nigerian forward Michael Ochei.

A club spokesman yesterday told The Times that Ochei, 18, is still under contract with Marsaxlokk until the end of next season. However, a few days ago they informed him that he did not figure in their plans any longer and told him to return home.

Ochei joined Marsaxlokk in the January transfer window and scored one goal in the Championship Pool. The southerners are out of contention in the Premier League but still in line to repeat their feat of last year when they reached the final of the FA Trophy and qualified for European football for the first time ever.

Earlier this month, Ochei was banned three matches after his touchline antics following the red card incurred in the match against Hibernians. He was sent off after striking opponent Ryan Mintoff in the face.

Marsaxlokk's only overseas player now is Bulgarian Mitko Trendafilov. Atanas Marinov's team were drawn to play Valletta in the FA Trophy quarter-finals on Sunday.
