Anthony EviParker's status as an amateur player with Balzan Youths will be probed by the Malta FA Board of Inquiry.

At a council meeting on Thursday night, the members voted in favour of an investigation after doubts were raised about how EviParker, who has Nigerian nationality, earns his living given that he is officially registered as an amateur.

Non-amateur players cannot join a new club outside the two transfer windows but EviParker, formerly of Marsa, was eligible to sign for Premier League club Balzan Youths last month because of his amateur status.

Sources close to Marsa FC yesterday told The Times that the club's fans will soon present a petition for an extraordinary general meeting. The supporters of this petition are seeking clarifications on EviParker's transfer to Balzan.

Another inquiry will be held into the contract between Hamrun Spartans and Marsaxlokk for the transfer of goalkeeper Ivan Casha.

The probe will centre the transfer fee paid by Marsaxlokk which, according to the contract deposited at the MFA, is significantly less than Casha's value as calculated against the association's transfer parameters.

Casha is expected to complete his move to Marsaxlokk when the transfer window opens on January 1.

Meanwhile, the council also ratified transfer bans on Floriana and Naxxar Lions.
