God will make a way is the title of the musical performed at Theresa Nuzzo School, Marsa, on April 3 and 4. It is the message that the school wished to communicate and share with the audience on this particularly important occasion.

On November 21 the Congregation of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart, which runs the school, will celebrate the first centenary since Archbishop Pietro Pace approved the foundation of the congregation in Malta.

The vision and mission of the foundress, Maria Theresa Nuzzo, was to take an altruistic approach to others, especially the poor. This caused her and her nuns many problems, since Malta experienced great poverty at the beginning of the 20th century, especially during the First World War.

The nuns themselves suffered hunger, and many died. The situation deteriorated so much that the new archbishop decided to appoint a Franciscan nun to lead the new congregation instead of Maria Theresa Nuzzo. It must have been a very humiliating moment for her, yet she humbly accepted the archbishop's decision.

The musical God will make a way highlights the most important moments in the simple, humble life of Maria Theresa Nuzzo. There was nothing spectacular in her life. What was spectacular was her unfailing faith and hope in the unconditional love of God - in the way, as one of the songs goes, He has inscribed each one of us on the palm of His hand.

After three months of hard work at rehearsals, the children of Grade 5 gave an excellent performance, passing on this message of hope to the audience through heart-warming singing and dancing, and very good acting.

Bishop Annetto Depasquale presided on April 3, and Sr Catherine Seychell, DSH, Mother General of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart, presided on April 4. In their speeches, both showed their appreciation of the performance, and especially of the message conveyed.
