The Malta International Airport (MIA) is set to be unveiled as the new sponsors of the Malta FA leagues. An agreement between the two parties has been finalised and will be announced at a news conference on Friday.

The MFA have long been searching for a sponsor for their competitions, especially the Premier League, after their association with Central Cigarette Limited came to an end last summer.

Exact details of the duration of the contract are not yet known but the sponsorship deal is likely to cover season 2003-2004 and could be extended by another two years.

Vienna airport is the majority shareholder in a consortium, Malta Mediterranean Link, which bought a 40 per cent stake in MIA last year.

Protests' hearing

The protests filed by Valletta and Pietà against the result of their matches with Birkirkara will be heard by the MFA Protests Board this evening.
