A Valletta man yesterday pleaded guilty to the possession and distribution of child pornography.

Stefan Grech, 32, pleaded guilty to the possession of indecent pictures or videos involving children aged under nine years.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to taking pictures or filming videos related to child pornography.

Grech was also charged with the hoarding of pornographic material "for gain, or for distribution, or for display in a public place or in a place accessible to the public" on and before August 26.

The case was then heard behind closed doors.

Police Inspectors Paul Caruana and Ian Abdilla prosecuted.

Dr Giannella Caruana Curran appeared for Grech.
