Marsa have accepted bids from two unnamed Italian clubs for their Nigerian players Minabo Asechemie and Anthony Eviparker.

Joe Gauci, the Marsa FC president, confirmed to The Times yesterday that Asechemie and Eviparker will play in Italy next season after his club concluded negotiations with Italian officials.

After an indifferent start, midfielder Asechemie came to the fore with a series of sparkling displays for Marsa in the second half of the season, helping the club to retain its Premier League status.

Young Eviparker began the season in the Premier League but finished the 2001/2002 campaign with Gozo champions Nadur Youngsters. Both Asechemie and Eviparker were brought to Malta by FIFA/MFA licensed agent Damian Iwueke.

Gauci said that Marsa will be recruiting two new Nigerian players to replace Asechemie and Eviparker.

Marsa, who recently appointed Patrick Curmi as their new coach, have also expressed an interest in Floriana players Richard Buhagiar and Kurt Formosa and also Liam Mangion, formerly of Lija Athletic.

The Marsa president also revealed that they have signed agreements with three sponsors and are working hard to regularise their position with the Malta FA regarding the issue of a licence for season 2002-03.
