LANZON. On April 10, at St Luke`s Hospital, MARIA née Said, widow of Salvino, passed peacefully away, aged 89, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Carmen and Peter, her brother Edward and his wife Melita, her nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Luke`s Hospital today at 8 a.m. for Christ the King parish church, Paola, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

SCHEMBRI. On April 10, MELITA, went to meet the Risen Christ at the age of 74. She leaves to mourn her loss her brothers Joseph and his wife Cettina, Fr Alexander Schembri, OFM Cap., Carmel, Fr Peter Paul Schembri, OFM Cap., her sister Mary and her husband Gejtu Dimech, David of Australia, and Maria, widow of her brother Tony, her beloved nieces Dorothy and Natalie and her husband Lawrence Borg, other nephews and nieces residing in Malta and Australia, other relatives and friends.
The funeral takes place today at 9.30 a.m. at the Capuchins` Friary, Floriana, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. May God grant her eternal rest.

Requiem Masses

Today is the first anniversary of the death of RONNIE BARTOLO. Fondly remembered by all his family, especially his wife Violet. A Mass for the repose of his soul will be said tomorrow at 7.15 p.m. at St Gregory`s chapel, Zejtun.

Prayer Meeting

The Mary Queen of Peace prayer meeting will be held today at 6.15 p.m. at St Joseph Institute, St Venera. Fr Alex Borg, OFM, will celebrate Mass.

Poezijaplus Activity

The next activity of Poezijaplus is devoted to mystic literature and will be held at the Manoel Theatre`s Cafe Diva on April 29 from 7.30 p.m.

Michael Macy will speak about the poetry and the music inspired by Jelaluddin Rumi and there will also be a short space for reading poetry from the public.

The aim behind Poezijaplus, which is held every last Monday of the month, is to foster an environment where literature is not just accepted as a part of our identity as a nation but also as a must to our own existence as living humans.

Salzburg Summer Academy

The 11th Salzburg Summer Academy for Arts Management will be held between July 22 and August 3.

The aim of the two week course is to provide professional support for leaders and project managers, working the arts, culture or media on the national and international levels.

Junior Chamber Training Session

Junior Chamber Malta recently organised a training session for employees at HSBC Bank Malta and the Westin Dragonara Resort, one in a series conducted by foreign trainers throughout the year.

The trainer for this session was Ms Marianne Nordli who is this year`s chairman of the Junior Chamber International training institute commission.

Ms Nordli specialises in training related to communication, stress management and leadership skills.

Graduates Monthly Meeting

The graduates monthly meeting will be held at the House for the Clergy in Fleur-de- Lys on Sunday at 4 p.m. After Mass and tea, Keith Sciberras will give a talk on `Caravaggio Redeemed`.

The meeting is open to professors, undergraduates, their families and friends.

Family Support Group AGM

The annual general meeting of the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Family Support Group will be held at Gian Frangisk Abela Secondary School, Msida (Junior College) tomorrow at 6.30 p.m.

Only members who have paid up their 2002 membership will be able to vote.

Floriana Council

The Floriana local council will be closed on Monday, the day after the feast of St Publius is celebrated in the locality.

University Meeting

The Ghaqda tal-Malti (Università) will be holding its general meeting at Students House, University, Tal-Qroqq tomorrow at 5 p.m.

During the meeting, Karistu Abela will talk on the new computerised Maltese spell-check system.

Masterclass for Music Teachers

Nigel Groome, the examiner of the London College of Music, will be giving a masterclass for music teachers and senior students at Palazzo de la Salle in Republic Street, Valletta on April 18 at 6 p.m.

Mr Groome is in Malta to examine around 170 candidates for the diploma and grade examinations of the London College of Music and Media at Thames Valley University.

The Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce has represented the college for the past 75 years.
