The Gozo ministry has launched works on the development of a new promenade at Iz-Zewwieqa in Mgarr harbour.

The €5m project will include an extensive paved promenade with space reserved for Gozo's only surviving dgħajsa tal-Latini as well as new parking facilities and street furniture.

The project is spread over an area of 18,000 square metres and will also include a reservoir.

Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono said this project followed on the building of the ferry terminal and the rebuilding of the road from Mgarr.

85% of the project costs will come from EU funds.
