Residents of Alfredo Cachia Zammit in Zejtun have complained about poor quality patching of their street.

The road was resurfaced a week ago, but the material used is crumbling away.

“The material used to patch up this road is of such poor quality that if you poke it, it starts to crumble. It’s as though you’re poking at a cake,” a resident said.

In a reaction, the Mayor of Zejtun, Joe Attard, said the material used in patching in Zejtun was supplied by a reputable firm and was of a high quality.

"When freshly laid it is of course soft but hardens in a short period of time."

He said the material could withstand the heavy and constant traffic which uses this particular link from Cottonera to Bir id Deheb junction.
