Traffic control in Anton Buttigieg Road, Zejtun, where three people lost their lives in a tragic accident yesterday evening, was an evergrowing problem, the city's council said.

In a statement, it expressed its condolences with the victims' relatives and said that plans were prepared by the Public Transport Authority last year to better control traffic and mitigate dangers.

Although the council believed that the best option would be for the road to be widened and designed in a similar way to the Ghaxaq by-pass, should this not be possible, the proposals made by ADT experts were essential.

The council called for the publication of these proposals and for the works to start without further delay.
