GWU general secretary Tony Zarb this morning filed two libel suits following claims made in a story in last Sunday's il-Mument and repeated on Net TV, that the union worked against the interests of workers.

Mr Zarb filed one suit against the editor of il-Mument Victor Camilleri and Samuel Grech, the president of a small union representing Arriva workers. The second suit was filed against Mr Grech and Net TV's head of news Nathaniel Attard.

The GWU said in a statement that several contradictory, deceitful and slanderous allegations were made by il-Mument and Net TV in an interview they carried with Mr Grech.
