A Mass which will 'celebrate'  Maltese traditions will be held at the Loreto church in Gudja on Sunday at 9am. It will be celebrated by Fr Maurice Mifsud.

The Mass will be held as part of the celebrations of Għanafest 2013. It will be accompanied by għana and the opening music will feature the żaqq and tanbur.

According to documentation, these two instruments used to be played in chapels during special religious functions, such as Christmas Eve Mass.

The Agnus Dei will be sung in għana, while the singing of the Offertory will be in the style of għana fil-għoli. Communion will be accompanied by the prejjem tal-minore and the Mass will close with thanksgiving għana.

All those wishing to be present at the Mass are requested to arrive at the Church of Our Lady of Loreto in Gudja (opposite the Malta International Airport) by 8.45am.

The Mass will be broadcast live on TVM2.
