Inter captain Javier Zanetti will be conducting a coaching clinic for children at the Luxol Sports Ground on May 30-June 1.

This was announced by Paul Fenech who is organising the training camp together with Luxol St Andrew’s.

“Bringing a player of Javier Zanetti’s calibre to host a coaching clinic for kids in Malta is not easy,” Mr Fenech said during the event’s launch today.

“Talks started several months ago and a lot of work has already gone into this initiative.“With the co-operation of Jason Falzon, on behalf of Luxol St Andrew’s, McDonald’s, who immediately agreed to sponsor the event, and the goodwill of all those involved in this project, we are now in position to announce that Zanetti will conduct a coaching clinic for kids in May.

“All proceeds will go to the Fundacion PUPI which was established by Zanetti and his wife Paula to help poor and disadvantaged children in Argentina.

“This clinic will give young players the opportunity to learn from Zanetti who, apart from his footballing abilities, is also renowned for his exemplary behaviour on and off the pitch.“Zanetti is a role model for many aspiring footballers.”

Zanetti, the most decorated player in the history of Inter, is expected to spend four days here. This will be Zanetti’s second visit to Malta in the space of eight months as the Inter stalwart was here in October as guest of the Inter Club Malta.

Jason Falzon said Luxol St Andrew’s are honoured to be hosting Zanetti’s first overseas coaching clinic. Applications for the coaching clinic can be collected from the clubhouse from next Monday, Mr Falzon said.

The clinic is open for children in different age-groups. The training camp will be held  according to guidelines provided by Zanetti who already runs a school for children in Milan along with Inter team-mate Esteban Cambiasso.
