Malta national champion Simon Zammit and last year's runner-up Alex Borg are leading their respective groups at the start of the second round of the national snooker championship.

Zammit is the only player in the championship who has won all his matches. He is currently topping Group B with 14 points from seven matches.

Zammit leads Joe Grech by two points. Mario Brincat is third on eight points, two ahead of fourth-placed Saviour Brignone.

In Group A, Borg has 12 points, enjoying a two-point lead on Simon Camilleri and Duncan Bezzina. Frans Mintoff is occupying fourth place with eight points.

The highest break of the championship so far has been recorded by Grech who made a 102.
