Charles Borg has just returned from a week-long stay in Turin where he completed a coaching course organised by Juventus Soccer School, a joint venture between Juventus FC and Nike.

Borg, a former first division footballer and a qualified youth coach since 1999, took part in an intensive training camp with sessions led by the renowned Prof. Luca Trucchi.

"This has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me," said Borg.

"I've been involved in youth training for some time now but never witnessed anything as professional as they have in Turin. We stand to gain a lot from the Juventus Soccer School."

The accreditation for the coaching staff in Malta will be completed next week when Ian Ruggier will also visit Turin to complete a similar course like the one Borg has just attended.

In Malta, the Juventus Academy will commence training sessions on Monday. Children will have the opportunity to practise with Marco Marchi, the head of the Juventus Soccer School project.

"This project brings a new dimension into the world of coaching," explained Marchi, who was responsible for Juve's U-16 and U-18 teams for over 10 years.

"Our initiative goes beyond the game of football. We want to help children fulfil their dreams. The people in Malta have shown great enthusiasm. I'm sure the coaches will provide children with the best possible training programmes around."
