From Manuel Zarb, 10, of Birkirkara
Dear Junior News, knights are very famous today, shown in many stories as elegant, armoured warriors on horseback. Really, they rarely charged into battle on horseback as they were too heavy, the horses alone weighed more than a ton. But when they did they had a crushing impact on enemy foot soldiers.

They lived in the middle ages and only began wearing armour in 1400. Knights also competed in jousts where two knights ran at each other with lances, aiming to knock the other to the ground.

Also, large armies of Christian knights, crusaders, travelled across Europe to Palestine to free the country from the Turks and recapture the temple of Jerusalem for the Christians. Unfortunately, they failed. The first crusade took place in 1096, while the last one happened in 1270.

The most famous knight of all was probably King Arthur, the leader of the Knights of the Round Table.

The knight is also used in the game of chess, with two pieces for each player, showing the head of a horse.

Even now, when knights are gone, they are mentioned in countless myths and legends.

As we mentioned before, many competition entries are so interesting that we save them for our letters column. And although you weren't a winner in the competition Manuel, we think people will be interested in your excellent research about knights. And you've won an €11.65 voucher for sending this week's star letter.

From Michael Mifsud, nine, of Sliema.
Dear Junior News, I like Manchester United. It is my favourite team. My school friend likes Milan.

It is OK if someone does not like something you like. Do not fight, but always love everyone, even those who do not agree with you.

Love a lot and always be happy.

We cannot think of a better message for Easter, Michael. It would make such a difference in the world if people remembered your simple point - that everyone's preferences are their business and, as long as they cause no harm, should be celebrated not regarded with fear, suspicion or ridicule.

• The sender of the star letter each week will recieve an €11.65 to exchange and a VIP 10 per cent discount card for all toys at Toyland for a whole year!

• Send your letters, together with your full name, age and address to Junior News.
