A 24-year-old man from Qormi has been jailed for three-and-a-half years after he admitted to stealing a gold necklace from a 70-year-old man.

Christopher Mifsud admitted stealing the necklace from Joseph Block, of Qormi, slightly injuring him, handling stolen property, breaching bail conditions and relapsing.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke took into consideration the fact that the victim was 70 and the accused’s criminal record.

However, she also took into consideration his cooperation with the police and his admission in the early stages of the proceedings.
