Young Enterprise Malta presented the first four awards of this year's HSBC Young Enterprise Company of the Year programme at the end of the recently held National Trade Fair. The awards presented were for Best Stand at the Trade Fair, Best Product, Most Innovative Product/Service and Best Business Plan.

Pl@n:it, representing the Verdala International School, won the first two awards with Dynamix winning Most Innovative Product/Service category. The award for the Best Business Plan went to Solutions.

"The National Trade Fair was a great success both for Young Enterprise in general and for the 13 companies taking part," Mark Farrugia, Chief Executive Officer at Young Enterprise Malta, said. "The fair began with HSBC presenting us with a sponsorship cheque of Lm14,000, which will of course be very useful as we plan the European finals.

"Throughout the weekend, sales were great and I am sure all the companies are pleased with their turnover. Obviously, for some teams, the weekend ended on a high with the presentation of these first four awards."

The results of the awards presented were;

Best Stand (judged and presented by the Malta Chamber of Commerce): Pl@n:it; Sole-Mates; and Dynamix (award presented by Michael Scerri);

Best Product (judged and presented by the Malta Federation of Industry): Pl@n:it; YNED; and Milestones (award presented by Anton Borg);

Most Innovative Product/Service (judged and presented by the Edward De Bono Foundation): Dynamix; Pl@n:it; and Sole-Mates (award presented by Dr Sandra Dingli); and Best Business Plan (judged and presented by HSBC Bank Malta plc): Solutions; YNED; and Sole-Mates (award presented by Emanuel Magri).

"After the success of the Trade Fair, the HSBC Young Enterprise Company of the Year programme moves on to its most exciting and challenging period with the approaching National Finals in July," Mr Farrugia said. "There are still plenty of awards to be won, including the coveted Company of the Year, so all 13 teams need to stay focused and carry on their hard work not only to win the national title but also to have the honour of representing Malta in the European finals."
