Yoopers - the nickname for natives or long-time residents of Michigan's Upper Peninsula - was among about 150 words added in an update to the 11th edition of the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary.

However, the suggested pronunciation listed alongside the entry lacks the "p". A Merriam-Webster spokeswoman said: "Yes, unfortunately a 'p' is missing from the pronunciation. The rest of the entry is fine."
