Boathouses in Xlendi are being given a revamp by the Ministry of Gozo as part of a masterplan for the regeneration of the locality.

The 23 boathouses were built in the 1970s and many have since fallen into disrepair, needing replacement of roofs and other interventions, the ministry said.

Minister Justyne Caruana said facades will also be restored, and a new street lighting system will be installed to complement that at Pjazza Anfori, which will itself undergo a revamp later this year.

Works are also being carried out on the hard-standing for fishermen's boats and the valley is being given a clean-up.
