A World War II German 500kg bomb was removed from Corradino industrial estate this morning.

The bomb was discovered late yesterday during digging behind a paint factory. Arms ordnance disposal experts were on the scene to remove it in a delicate operation.

The location of the bomb was a few hundred metres away from where another WWII bomb was found on the site of the Mcast football ground in December. The college was evacuated until the bomb was safely removed.

Corradino was hit by many bombs during the war because of its proximity to the dockyard and the airport. It also had large underground fuel tanks.
