The Water Services Corporation said today that it is planning works to solve the problem of 'soapy' water flowing in Attard Valley.

The corporation was reacting to reports on Thursday about the foul-smelling soapy water flowing between fields close to the Rabat road.

The corporation said that it was aware of the limitations of the infrastructure leading  to this area. Upgrading works including a deviation of the sewer main to alleviate these problems are planned to start in 2014.

"Notwithstanding continuous upgrades to the wastewater infrastructure and constant monitoring and preventive maintenance, the WSC also wishes to renew its appeals to stop the dumping of materials that were never meant to enter the sewage system such as fats, oils, straw, rags, etc. that cause blockages as evidenced by this latest episode in Attard valley," the corporation said.
