I would like to express my utter disgust at the way the Fgura local council has been handling its matters.

A coloured pamphlet has been sent to each house in A.M. Valperga Street, proposing a so-called "underground bring-in site". The proposed site will be just opposite the bastions that surround the Three Cities. This, as far as I'm concerned, is the only national heritage present in this town since even the parish church is a big block of concrete.

Taking a look at the structure of the local council, one comes along a couple of fresh, young faces, who may have lured us into thinking they might be bright enough to bring in some innovative ideas.

The pamphlet, named Fgurambjent, brags about the advantages of how we have to take care of our environment and how the bring-in sites are critically essential to us. I challenge anyone in the council, including the mayor, Darren Marmarà to contest that the "bring-in sites" are nothing but an eyesore, a load of foul smells and an optimal place for rats to use as a nest.

The leaflet also admits that none of the residents like having a bring-in site close to their house. Therefore we are treated less than other residents, since we seem to have no say in this matter.

The "young and energetic" mayor prefers to have an eyesore complementing the bastions instead of working for the area surrounding them to be cleared, cleaned and having trees planted. Is this the impression we want tourists with their yachts berthed at the Vittoriosa waterfront to get? Is common sense really that hard to find nowadays?

I sincerely believe the mayor should resign because this is shameful!
