International writers aboard the sailing boat Adriatica are hoping to meet with the public as part of the 'Ports of the Mediterranean' project at the Italian Cultural Institute in St George's Square, Valletta, on Tuesday.
The 'men of Adriatica' are keen to meet locals, writers, artists in order to get to know the life, society and culture of Malta, and will then recount their experiences during the voyage.
The evening, which starts off at 7 p.m., is dedicated not only to lovers of the sea and sailing but also to those who see the sea as a communication tool among people and diverse cultures.
Italian and foreign writers are on the boat to review the many identities and beauties of the Mediterranean sea.
Together for the first time, Adriatica and Giudizio Universale will narrate the history of the Mediterranean sea, its cities, harbours and cultures with the help of the writers on board.
This is part of the literary journey organised by the magazine Giudizio Universale and Adriatica, the boat of the TV show Velisti per Caso (Accidental Sailors).
The boat left Ercolano on August 29 and will reach its final destination in Geneva on October 3. It will have travelled 3,000 miles, made nine stops in nine cities, opening nine 'doors' on cultures, languages and people.
The writers travelling on board are Björn Larsson, Alicia Giménez-Bartlett, Roberto Alajmo, Fawzi Mellah, Flavio Soriga, Roselina Salemi, Andrej Longo, Massimo Carlotto and Simone Perotti.
