I refer to the article Stuck Indoors But Happy To Be Home (December 24).

It appears the journalist ventured around the Sagra Familja Home’s residents who are the front runners at the home to speak out favourably on the home for the elderly.

I was recently visiting one of the residents at the home where residents were complaining about the introduction of paying €10 per month for the home administration to withdraw medicines on their behalf from the “pharmacy of their choice” in Naxxar Square, not far from the home.

Most of the residents were very preoccupied. The reason for such payment is still unknown. Medicines are normally withdrawn from the pharmacy on a bi-monthly and/or quarterly basis. The home administration did not have the decency to request such payment on a bi-monthly/quarterly basis.

The residents were faced with a fait accompli that is a “take it or no medicines would be withdrawn on their behalf” situation. Had the journalist ventured in a thorough way around the home during her visit I am sure such complaints would have been raised to her by the residents.
