The Malta Tourism Authority, together with Heritage Malta, recently held a Biodiversity Fair at the Museum of Natural History, Mdina.

The fair was the first in a series of events to mark World Tourism Day on September 27.

Twelve non-governmental organisations participated in the fair, each displaying its own pro-jects and promotional materials related to the conservation of the environment.

The Museum of Natural History organised a long tour around the premises, especially for children. After the tour, they were invited to participate in a life-sized board game with Turu, the mascot of the Tourism Appreciation Campaign, Apprezza.

This year’s theme for World Tourism Day, chosen by the World Tourism Organisation, is ‘Tourism and Biodiversity’.

The final activity will be held on Tuesday, with the observation of Cory’s Shearwater birds (Cief) at the Belvedere of the Blue Grotto.
