Thomas J Cremona will attempt to break the record for the longest continual row by rowing for 24 hours between noon on Saturday and Sunday at Bay Street.

He will also raise funds for Puttinu Cares Foundation.

Members of the public are encouraged to join Mr Cremona at Bay Street , where additional rowing machines will be availablefor those who wish to accompany him by rowing for a period of time.

The record Mr Cremona will be attempting to break is known as the Concept2 'Longest Continual Row' and the category he will be contesting in is the 'Individual Men 20-29 Heavyweight' (Heavyweight as he currently weighs over 75kg).

The current World Record is held by Vincent Brunning, Plymouth, Great Britain and was established on the 22-23 October 2009 and currently stands at 20 hours. http://www.concept2.com/us/racing/records/ultra_records.asp

Thomas Cremona is a member of a team of six persons (3 Irish, 1 British, 1 Icelandic and 1 Maltese) who will be rowing the ‘Sara G’ from Morocco to Barbados next month.

The ‘Sara G’ will attempt to break the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Speed Record which currently stands at 33 days, 7 hours and 30 minutes that was established in January 2008. Throughout the event, they will row in shifts of two hours on and two hours off, with three men rowing whilst three rest.

Upon the successful completion of the challenge, he would be the first Maltese person to row across the Atlantic.
