Greece vs Turkey
Greece and rivals Turkey will both be seeking to heal bruised egos when they clash in what is sure to be a fiercely contested qualifier today. Greece will be seeking salvation after going down to an embarrassing 2-1 defeat to Albania on Saturday. Turkey's pride has been damaged after winning bragging rights two years ago when they reached the World Cup semi-finals... Greece have now usurped them by winning Euro 2004.

F. Islands vs France
France's golden era may be over, but they are still good enough to hand out a footballing lesson to the part-timers from the Faroe Islands and return to Paris with three precious World Cup points today. Any result other than a convincing victory in the North Atlantic would be regarded as a disgrace even if Les Bleus are struggling to adjust to life after the international departure of Zinedine Zidane.

Bosnia vs Spain
Spain coach Luis Aragones is looking for a huge improvement from his side when they begin their World Cup qualifying campaign with a tricky tie against Bosnia today. Spain, who usually qualify with ease for final tournaments then fail to do well when they get there, have played poorly in their two friendlies since Aragones took over from Inaki Saez after their Euro 2004 failure.

Scotland vs Slovenia
Scotland manager Berti Vogts says his side, who open their 2006 qualifying campaign against Slovenia today, can hope for a play-off place at best from Group Five. Italy are favourites to automatically progress to the finals in Germany from a group also containing Norway, Belarus and Moldova. "This is one of the key matches for second place," Vogts said.
