Bay Street will be celebrating the World Cup with a number of events which started last Friday and will continue until the World Cup final on July 11.

Last Friday the events programme was launched along with the launch of the World Cup 2010 CD and the tribute song, Living n' Jiving in Africa by Tithe Samuel.

Among the guests present at the launch were Valletta FC president Victor Sciriha and player Gilbert Agius, as well as Brian Said, Ian Woods and Alex Muscat.

A full-size replica of the World Cup trophy was presented and will be on display at Bay Street throughout the month. Visitors will have the opportunity to have their photo taken as they hold the trophy.

Activities to be held include the 'Meet and Beat the Goalkeeper' penalty shoot-out competition and performances by local and international musicians, inc-luding Marc Storace of Krokus, Tomas Hedley, Noel Matrenza, Vittorio Gauci and tenor Aldo Busuttil, as well as The Cumnor House School Choir and Jackson Pipe Band.
