A woman who breached a court order barring her from causing nuisance by making “loud sex noises” has been sent to jail.

Gemma Wale, of Small Heath, Birmingham, was given a two-week prison sentence after a civil court judge concluded that she had breached the order by “screaming and shouting whilst having sex” at a “level of noise” which annoyed a neighbour.

Detail has emerged in a written ruling by Judge Emma Kelly following a hearing in Birmingham County Court. Judge Kelly concluded that Miss Wale had breached an anti-social behaviour order. She said Birmingham City Council took legal action after a neighbour complained.

Man charged for sneezing attacks

A man has been charged over a string of assaults on elderly victims who had sneezed in public.

Police received complaints from people aged from 65 to 82 who said they had been slapped while sneezing in Carlisle city centre in February and March.

A spokesman for Cumbria Constabulary said: “Stephen Jackson, 49, of Shaddongate, Carlisle, has been charged with four counts of assault by beating, one count of common assault and one count of using threatening behaviour to cause harassment, alarm and distress.” Jackson will appear at North Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on June 30, added the spokesman.

Tiger in driveway was just a toy

An animal control worker in Michigan was convinced he was looking at a young tiger lying in a driveway, so he approached with care.

He grabbed a pole and a shield, and called police – but it turned out to be a stuffed toy. Kent County Animal Control received a call about a tiger in the driveway of a vacant Grand Rapids home. Supervisor Joe Dainelis responded to the call, and when he spotted the animal, he grabbed his safety gear.

Neighbours also thought the life-sized, furry toy was real. But when Rachel Jensen approached from another direction, she realised there was nothing ferocious about it. Mr Dainelis says he expects to be teased for a few days.

Art lovers can sleep on robot beds

Art lovers will be encouraged to fall asleep at a new exhibition featuring a pair of roving robotic beds.

Two visitors to the Hayward Gallery exhibition, Carsten Holler: Decision, will be able to stay overnight at the building on London’s South Bank and sleep in the specially-adapted beds.

The beds, which will travel less than three feet a minute, are programmed to avoid obstacles and use a system of lasers and radio beacons to get around. Conceptual artist Carsten Holler made headlines in 2006 when several people were injured on giant spiralling slides he installed at Tate Modern.

Handbag smashes auction record

A designer handbag has smashed a world auction record in Hong Kong. Christie’s auction house said the crocodile-skin Birkin bag in fuchsia with gold and diamond hardware sold for 1.72 million Hong Kong dollars (£146,000).

The previous record was set at a US auction in 2011 for another Birkin bag, in red crocodile skin, that sold for $203,150 (£133,466). The Birkin bag was designed for and named after British actress Jane Birkin.
