A Tennessee woman who ran the Boston Marathon is looking for the man she kissed on a dare.

Barbara Tatge says her daughter, Paige, dared her to kiss a random, good-looking man and take a photo of it as she ran her first Boston Marathon on April 20.

So, about halfway into the race, that’s what the single 55-year-old from Lakeland did. “That little kiss gave me wings on my shoes for the rest of the race,” Tatge said on Friday by phone.

Now Paige Tatge, a graduate student at Arizona State University, is determined to find the mystery man, who clearly left an impression on her mom. So she’s taken to social media and made outright appeals to Boston-area media.

A joyful noise or an unholy din?

A Vermont Roman Catholic church’s electronic broadcast of bells and hymns is clashing with some residents of a neighbourhood in a state that has been identified as the least religious in the country.

Some residents say the chiming that started being broadcast through the Christ the King church’s sound system three times a day last summer is noisy and intrusive.

They have complained to the city that the church is violating the city’s noise ordinance.

The church has made some modifications but critics question whether it has abided by them. The city has recommended that neighbours and the church work out a resolution through mediation. A meeting with a mediator was scheduled for March but was postponed until May 18. (AP)

Guitars stolen through ceiling hole

A New Jersey man is accused of stealing enough musical equipment to outfit quite a few bands.

Philadelphia police said that Jason Mackenzie of Berlin, New Jersey, has been charged with burglary and related offences in a break-in at a self-storage unit on Castor Avenue.

Investigators say Mackenzie and two accomplices cut a hole in the top of the storage unit on the night of March 25 and took 35 guitars, 10 amplifiers and other electronic equipment as well as vinyl records and children’s toys.

Detectives apprehended Mackenzie on Thursday. There was no word on the status of the two alleged accomplices.

It’s not clear yet whether Mackenzie has retained an attorney who could comment on his behalf. (AP)

New £5 coin greets new royal baby

The Royal Mint has unveiled the design of a new £5 coin, to commemorate the safe arrival of the royal baby.

In celebration of the princess’s birth, 500 gold coins and 9,500 silver coins will be produced.

The coins have a royal seal of approval from the Queen, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and the Chancellor.

John Bergdahl has designed the limited-edition pieces, and he was also the artist behind the commemorative coins which were minted for Prince George’s birth.

The Royal Mint’s Shane Bissett said: “It is only fitting that we commemorate this new addition to the Royal Family with the release of a special coin, just as we celebrated the arrival of Prince George.”

In addition to the £5 coin, the Royal Mint has also produced 2015 silver pennies which will be given to babies born on the same day as the royal baby.

The first silver penny was presented to Chantal and Miguel Abel, whose daughter Sofia arrived at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London at 11.30am on Saturday – around three hours after the Princess of Cambridge. (PA)
