And one woman told the Tory leader – who has been criticised for personal attacks on his Labour counterpart: “I don’t like the name calling in politics ... Be a good boy.”
Farage is challenged to a duel
Nigel Farage has been challenged to a duel with swords by a man claiming to be a Polish prince.
Yanek Zylinski, in a video posted on YouTube, slammed the Ukip leader’s “idiotic” blaming of immigrants for traffic jams on the M40.
Zylinski called on Farage to meet him in Hyde Park in central London to resolve the matter “in a way that an 18th century Polish aristocrat and an English gentleman would traditionally do”.
Mechanic caught on dash-cam
A Halfords customer’s dashboard camera caught a mechanic speeding in his car while it was booked in for an MOT, the BBC reported.
Shaun Ingram from Saltash, Cornwall, is said to have left his Ford Focus ST in for a major service at Halfords Autocentre in Plymouth.
On its return he discovered the dashboard camera recorded footage of his car being driven 57mph in a 30mph zone.
Halfords said the mechanic was a temporary employee who had been let go.
French spiderman hits the top
A French climber has scaled one of Dubai’s tallest skyscrapers, relying on just chalk and sticky tape on his fingertips to help him up the 75-storey Cayan Tower in the emirate’s glitzy marina area.
Alain Robert, 52, climbed the 307-metre-high structure in just 70 minutes. He had no harness and little space for his feet on the ledges of the tower, which twists as it ascends.
Robert, who is often described as “The French Spiderman”, is no stranger to scaling tall buildings. In 2011, he climbed the world’s tallest tower in Dubai. Using a rope and harness to comply with organisers’ requirements, it took him just over six hours to scale the 828-metre Burj Khalifa.
Spoof photo from US Civil War
A photograph that posed a US Civil War mystery for three decades appears to be a long-surviving hoax.
The photograph of what appeared to be a far older photo – showing a figure in a coat and hat and the blurred image of a warship – surfaced in 1986. Some historians believed it might be a photo of the CSS Georgia, a Confederate ironclad that sank 150 years ago in Georgia as Union troops captured Savannah.
The man who photographed the picture, John Potter, initially said he found it at a jumble sale but could not afford to buy it. Now Potter says the photo is a fake he made as a teenager using a two-foot model of the ship and his brother in costume standing in a marsh.
Rude licence plate turned down
A Vietnam War veteran in Utah was surprised by the reason for the denial of his request for a personalised licence plate commemorating the year he was wounded and awarded a Purple Heart.
Arnold Breitenbach of St George sought a licence plate with the designation CIB-69, representing the Combat Infantryman’s Badge he received and the year he was awarded the Purple Heart.
The Utah Division of Motor Vehicles denied his request, citing state regulations prohibiting the use of the number 69 because of its sexual connotations.
